Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 4, 2026

Blazebar (“Blazebar”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Blazebar macOS application and visit https://blazebar.com (the “Website”).

Blazebar is designed with a privacy-first approach: Your API keys. Your data. Your control.

If you have any questions, contact us at: support@blazebar.com

1. Overview of How Blazebar Works

Blazebar is a macOS application that allows you to send selected text to third-party AI providers using your own API key.

We do not operate our own AI models. All AI processing happens directly between your device and the third-party provider you choose.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information We Do Not Collect

Blazebar does not:

  • Store your prompts or AI responses on our servers
  • Store your selected text
  • Store or access your API keys outside your device
  • Monitor your clipboard
  • Track what you type
  • Sell your data

All API keys are securely stored in Apple Keychain on your device.

B. Information Processed Through Third-Party AI Providers

When you use Blazebar, the following may be sent directly from your device to your selected AI provider:

  • Selected text
  • Your prompt

Supported providers may include:

  • OpenAI
  • Google (Gemini)
  • xAI
  • OpenRouter

These providers process your data according to their own privacy policies and terms. Blazebar does not control or store this data.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of your chosen provider before use.

C. Information We May Collect

1. Website Data (blazebar.com)

When you visit our website, we may collect limited technical information such as:

  • Browser type
  • Device type
  • IP address
  • Pages visited
  • Referring pages

This data is used for:

  • Improving website performance
  • Security monitoring
  • Basic analytics

We do not sell visitor data.

Google Analytics and PostHog. The Website (but not the App) uses Google Analytics and PostHog to track and report Website usage and user behaviours (for example, which pages are visited, which sections are viewed, and how visitors navigate the Website). These services may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your device and browsing activity on the Website. This information may include your IP address, which may be processed by those providers.

You can learn more about Google’s data practices and opt-out options here:

  • Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • Google privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

2. App Usage Analytics (TelemetryDeck)

The Blazebar macOS app uses TelemetryDeck for limited product analytics. We use this analytics data to understand app usage at a high level, improve onboarding, measure feature adoption, and diagnose whether queries and selection replacement flows are succeeding or failing.

Exactly What Blazebar Sends to TelemetryDeck

Blazebar sends analytics event names and limited metadata such as:

  • App launch
  • Command panel opened
  • Usage session started and ended, including entry point, session duration, query count, and session end reason
  • Settings opened and settings tab selected
  • Onboarding shown, onboarding step viewed, onboarding step completed, and onboarding completed
  • Accessibility permission requested and granted
  • Provider selected, configured, or disconnected, including provider identifier, where the action happened in the app, and authentication mode
  • Query submitted, including provider identifier, model name, action type, selection state, and whether a saved command was used
  • Query succeeded or failed, including provider identifier, action type, coarse error category, and request duration
  • Selection replacement attempted, dispatched, or failed, including whether the app reused an existing response
  • Response copied

Blazebar also attaches a small set of app state values to app analytics events, including:

  • Current provider identifier
  • Number of configured providers
  • Whether any provider is configured
  • Whether onboarding has been completed
  • A random in-app usage session identifier, current session query count, and current session entry point while a usage session is active

TelemetryDeck’s SDK also automatically includes technical metadata with each event, including:

  • App version and build number
  • macOS version
  • Device model, platform, architecture, screen resolution, time zone, locale, region, and language
  • Run context such as whether the app is a debug build, simulator build, TestFlight build, or App Store build
  • User interface preferences such as color scheme and layout direction
  • Certain system accessibility preferences exposed by macOS, currently including whether Reduce Motion or Invert Colors is enabled
  • Calendar and time-bucket data such as day of week, week of year, month, quarter, and hour of day

TelemetryDeck also uses a pseudonymous analytics identifier for the app installation. On macOS, this is based on a random identifier stored locally for analytics purposes and sent to TelemetryDeck only as a hashed value. A random session identifier is also sent for analytics sessions.

Like any hosted analytics service that receives HTTPS requests from your device, TelemetryDeck may also receive your IP address as part of the network request. Blazebar does not send your IP address as a custom analytics field.

What Blazebar Does Not Send to TelemetryDeck

To be completely clear, Blazebar does not send any of the following to TelemetryDeck:

  • Your prompt text
  • Your selected text
  • Any AI or LLM response text
  • Any replacement text inserted into another app
  • Your saved command text
  • Your API keys
  • Your clipboard contents
  • Your payment details

We do not use TelemetryDeck to inspect, store, replay, or analyze what you asked the model, what text you selected, or what the model returned.

3. Purchase Information

If you purchase Blazebar, payments are processed securely through Lemon Squeezy (https://lemonsqueezy.com), our authorized payment provider and merchant of record.

When you complete a purchase, Lemon Squeezy may collect and process:

Lemon Squeezy processes your information according to their own Privacy Policy and legal obligations. We recommend reviewing their privacy documentation for more information.

4. Crash Reports (If Enabled)

If crash reporting is enabled, anonymous technical data may be collected, including:

  • macOS version

  • Device type
  • Error logs

This data helps improve stability. It does not include prompts, selected text, or API keys.
