Get a Google API Key

Blazebar needs an API key to talk to Gemini models. This takes about 1 minute. You'll need a Google account.

Get your API key

Go to aistudio.google.com/app/api-keys and sign in. A Default Gemini API Key is created automatically. Click the copy icon to copy it.

Paste it into Blazebar

Open Blazebar settings (click the menu bar icon → Settings), select Google as your provider, and paste your API key.

Tip: Blazebar stores your key securely in the macOS Keychain and sends it only to Google — never to Blazebar's servers.

Set up billing (optional)

Gemini offers a generous free tier. If you need higher rate limits, click Set up billing next to your key in Google AI Studio to enable pay-as-you-go.
