Setup Guide

Create an OpenRouter API Key

Blazebar needs an API key to talk to models via OpenRouter. This takes about 2 minutes. You'll need an OpenRouter account.

1

Open the API Keys page

Go to openrouter.ai/settings/keys and log in. Click the Create button in the top-right corner.

Configure your key

Give your key a name (e.g. Blazebar). Leave Credit limit blank for unlimited, keep Expiration set to No expiration, and click Create.

Copy your key

Your key is shown only once. Click Copy and save it somewhere safe. It starts with sk-or-v1-...

4

Paste it into Blazebar

Open Blazebar settings (click the menu bar icon → Settings), select OpenRouter as your provider, and paste your API key.

Tip: Blazebar stores your key securely in the macOS Keychain and sends it only to OpenRouter — never to Blazebar's servers.
5

Add API credits

OpenRouter uses prepaid credits. Go to Credits in the sidebar and click Add Credits. Load at least $5 to get started.

You're all set.
