Create an xAI API Key

Blazebar needs an API key to talk to Grok models. This takes about 2 minutes. You'll need an xAI account.

Open the API Keys page

Go to console.x.ai and log in. Click API Keys in the left sidebar, then click Create API key.

Give your key a name (e.g. Blazebar). Leave Restrict access and Rate limits off. Click Create API key.

Your key is shown only once. Click Copy and save it somewhere safe. It starts with xai-...

Open Blazebar settings (click the menu bar icon → Settings), select xAI as your provider, and paste your API key.

Tip: Blazebar stores your key securely in the macOS Keychain and sends it only to xAI — never to Blazebar's servers.

xAI's API uses prepaid credits. Go to Billing in the console sidebar and click Purchase credits. Load at least $5.
